Booking Information

All bookings are made with Dave Hastie of DaveHCoaching hereinafter referred to as "The Provider", and you referred to as “The Customer or Participant”, or the person making the booking on your behalf.

All fees should reach "The Provider" no later than 30 days before the start date.  Where fees are not received by this time "The Provider" reserves the right to cancel the booking.

At time of booking a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total fee will be required.

Cancellations / Reschedules by the Customer

All bookings may be cancelled / rescheduled at any time by giving notice in writing to the Provider.

All cancellations will be subject to a booking cancellation fee as follows:

  • More than 30 days before the course start date = No additional charge to the Client (20% of the total booking fee already taken as non-refundable deposit at time of booking).

  • 15-30 days before the course start date = 50% of the total booking fee.

  • Less than 15 days before the course start date = 100% of the total booking fee.

Where a booking needs to be rescheduled, alternative dates / courses will be looked at. Where no other dates are suitable, the booking may need to be cancelled, at which point the above cancellation fees apply.

The Provider accepts no liability for any losses by the Customer for any accommodation, travel, registration costs, etc that arise from the cancellation / reschedule of a booking. It is highly recommended that refundable options are made.

Cancellations / Reschedules by the Provider

From time to time it may be necessary to cancel or reschedule a booking due to:

  • Some courses and assessments requiring certain environmental conditions e.g. weather and water conditions. If these conditions are not met on the day, or the forecast shows that conditions may not be suitable, this will be discussed with the Customer on the day, or in advance if conditions do not look favourable, and alternative locations / dates looked at. Where no alternative can be found, then a refund will be given, less the 20% non-refundable deposit.

  • Some courses require a minimum number of Participants to run as stipulated by British Canoeing Awarding Body. If numbers fall below this, then it will be necessary to cancel / reschedule the course.

  • Where a course fails to reach a minimum viable number.

  • Any other factors beyond the Providers control.

The Provider accepts no liability for any losses by the Customer for any accommodation, travel, registration costs, etc that arise from the cancellation / reschedule of a booking. It is highly recommended that refundable options are made.

The Customer / Participants Equipment

The Customer / Participant is responsible for providing their own equipment, unless otherwise stated. Equipment includes, but is not limited to: boat or board, paddle, spraydeck (where applicable), buoyancy aid, helmet, suitable clothing.

All equipment should be of a good condition. Where at the start of a course the equipment is deemed by the Provider to be not in a suitable condition for the activity, the Provider reserves the right to remove the Participant from the course if no suitable alternative can be found. Where a Participant is removed from the course, no refund will be given.

Loss / Damage to The Customer / Participants Equipment

The Provider accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage to The Customer / Participants kit, equipment or vehicles.

It is recommended that you hold your own insurance to cover all items in the unlikely event that something should get lost, damaged or stolen.

The Providers Equipment

Where the Provider loans equipment to the Participant for the purposes of the course, the Participant is responsible for ensuring that equipment is kept safe.

Where the Participant loses / breaks the Providers equipment, with the exception of fair wear and tear, the Provider reserves the right to charge the Participant for this.

Assumption of Risk / Safety & Injury

All Paddlesport activities come with an inherent risk.

Precautions are taken by the Provider to minimise this risk to all involved.

Safety instructions will be provided at the start of the course / session and that by making a booking with DaveHCoaching, you agree to follow all safety instructions given.

Where a Participant fails to comply with any safety instructions given, the Provider reserves the right to remove the Participant from the course. Where a Participant is removed from the course, no refund will be given.

The Provider and all employees are experienced, qualified and trained in first aid, and are competent in the environments in which we operate.

The Provider accepts no liability for any injury, loss of life or illness, except where such injury, loss of life or illness is caused by negligence of the Provider or its employees.

Due to the dynamic nature of the environment that we operate in, the Provider may stop the activity at any time should conditions become unsuitable.
